Sun Pharma Licenses Lerodalcibep Globally

Sun Pharma has entered into an exclusive global licensing agreement with US-based LIB Therapeutics to manufacture and commercialize Lerodalcibep across markets outside the United States and Greater China. Lerodalcibep is a once-monthly PCSK9 inhibitor designed to lower low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) in adults diagnosed with hypercholesterolemia and mixed dyslipidemia. Under the terms of the deal, LIB Therapeutics will receive an upfront payment alongside future milestone achievements and net-sales-linked royalties. The drug recently secured European Commission marketing authorization under the brand name Lyrokaul, following its US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval under the brand name Lerochol. This strategic partnership grants Sun Pharma entry into an ex-US/China PCSK9 market valued at ₹0.36 lakh crore ($3.7 billion) and growing at a 38% CAGR, with Europe accounting for ₹27,541 crore ($2.9 billion) as of MAT Q2 2026. Sun Pharma Managing Director Kirti W. Ganorkar noted that Lerodalcibep's low-volume injection, robust LDL-C efficacy, once-monthly dosing, and room-temperature stability for up to six months significantly enhance patient compliance. Sun Pharma will manage local regulatory filings across licensed territories, solidifying its specialty innovative portfolio and expanding its global footprint in cardiovascular therapy.
