The Indian Government is diligently engaged in broadening the nation's export capabilities, particularly focusing on empowering Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to take part in international commerce. Recent actions encompass export incentives, trade promotion activities, and leveraging digital platforms to simplify regulatory procedures. A central focus has been on enhancing market entry via Free Trade Agreements (FTAs), underscored by the signing of the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) with the United Kingdom (UK) on July 24, 2025. Discussions with the European Union for a Free Trade Agreement are currently in progress, aiming for finalization by the year's end. Domestically, the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) programs, encompassing 14 vital sectors like electronics, pharmaceuticals, solar PV modules, and automobiles, have enhanced local manufacturing and exports while drawing significant investments. These initiatives have led to job generation, decreased reliance on imports, and strengthened India’s position in global supply chains. To enhance infrastructure and lower logistics expenses, the Government has initiated transformative measures like the National Logistics Policy (NLP) and PM Gati Shakti, which aim to improve multimodal connectivity, eliminate bottlenecks, and incorporate technology for more efficient supply chain management.
