The installed electricity generation capacity of NTPC Group has surpassed the 90 GW mark with the launch of commercial operations at the second phase of the Khavda Solar Energy Project in Gujarat. NTPC Green Energy Ltd (NGEL), via its wholly owned subsidiary NTPC Renewable Energy Ltd (NREL), commenced commercial operations of a supplementary 110.25 megawatt (MW) solar capacity at the Khavda-I Solar PV Project on May 22, 2026. With this recent enhancement, the overall installed and operational power generation capacity of the NTPC Group has achieved 90,025 MW, solidifying its status as India’s largest integrated power utility. The increase in capacity signifies yet another important milestone in India's shift towards clean energy and highlights the company's increasing emphasis on renewable energy production. The Khavda Renewable Energy Park, currently under development in the Kutch region of Gujarat, is anticipated to become one of the largest renewable energy parks globally once completed.
