The year 2025 witnessed numerous significant achievements for Western Railway, highlighting its dedication to electrification, infrastructure improvement, safety measures, and digital advancement. This area has achieved total electrification of the broad-gauge network, demonstrating its dedication to environmentally friendly and energy-efficient practices in accordance with national sustainability goals. This was a factor that led to an impressive 97% on-time performance of Mail and Express services, highlighting enhancements in operational planning, real-time tracking, and service reliability. Digital transformation progressed significantly, particularly with the introduction of 2,270 Hand-Held Terminals (HHTs), facilitating complete digital ticket verification, while Western Railway topped the Rail Madad grievance resolution platform for the fifth year in a row. In the area of safety, it was also a significant enhancement, with the building of 138 Road Over and Under Bridges, the removal of 114 level crossings, and the implementation of 660 km of W-beam fencing, greatly strengthening passenger and operational safety across the whole network. Western Railway emphasised its cultural legacy, inclusiveness, and engagement with the community through events that celebrate architectural heritage and enhance passenger connectivity. The year saw numerous life-saving actions by the Railway Protection Force personnel: saving 37 lives in Operation Jeevan Raksha and rescuing 769 children in Operation Nanhe Farishtey, demonstrating a commitment to public safety. On the infrastructural side, the major highlight was the inauguration of the Loco Manufacturing Shop in Dahod, which cost Rs. 21,405 crore (US$2.58 billion) allocated for producing 9,000 HP electric freight locomotives as part of the Make in India initiative.
