Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Piyush Goyal, presents India’s strategic economic vision at the India Global Forum 2025 in London.

Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Piyush Goyal, emphasized India’s strategic vision and economic leadership during his keynote address at the India Global Forum (IGF) 2025 in London, following the landmark signing of the India–United Kingdom Free Trade Agreement (FTA) in May 2025. At the IGF Mainstage Plenary Session titled “From Agreement to Action: The UK–India FTA,” he reiterated India’s commitment to turning the FTA into a transformative alliance. He was accompanied by the UK’s Secretary of State for Business and Trade, Mr. Jonathan Reynolds, while international journalist Mr. Mark Barton served as the moderator for the session. Mr. Piyush Goyal described the FTA as a representation of the shared ambitions of two democratic nations. He indicated that it demonstrates India’s capability to develop balanced and forward-looking trade agreements. He outlined the forthcoming steps, which involve establishing institutional frameworks, ensuring immediate benefits for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and startups, as well as facilitating the seamless movement of skilled professionals. Additionally, on June 19, he took part in a specialized session at London’s Science Museum concentrated on UK–India collaboration in science and technology, focusing on digital public infrastructure, green manufacturing, and breakthroughs in fintech, artificial intelligence, and the creative sectors. Underlining the global potential of initiatives such as the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) and CoWIN, he reaffirmed India’s desire to enhance cooperation with the United Kingdom through the FTA by fostering collaboration in defense, advanced manufacturing, and key technologies.
