MCX doubles Q2 revenue as commodity activity accelerates
Multi Commodity Exchange of India Limited (NSE: MCX) reported Q2 FY27 consolidated revenue from operations of ₹799.66 crore, up 113.7% year on year. Net profit increased 130.2% to ₹454.57 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2026. What happened MCX also reported EBITDA of approximately ₹664 crore, up 145.9%. Average daily turnover reached ₹62,819 crore in futures and approximately ₹12 lakh crore in options during the quarter. The results reflect a sharp increase in activity across the commodity derivatives platform, supported by wider participation and strong trading activity. Why it matters MCX has a scalable exchange business model. When trading activity rises, transaction revenue can grow faster than the underlying cost base. The faster growth in EBITDA than revenue indicates operating leverage in the latest quarter. However, options turnover is largely a notional measure. It should not be treated as equivalent to fee-generating revenue. The mix of contracts, realised transaction yield and sustained participation matter more than headline turnover alone. What to watch next Track monthly futures and options average daily turnover, the mix of commodity contracts and revenue growth in Q3 FY27. A moderation in commodity volatility could also moderate activity and earnings growth. Stance: Constructive on MCX's operating momentum, but the current growth rate should not be extrapolated indefinitely. The next test is whether elevated trading activity translates into sustainable revenue and cash generation.
