$AEGISLOG (energy infrastructure, LPG/LNG terminals)

If you want energy exposure without betting on crude prices, $AEGISLOG (Nifty 500) is a classic “picks-and-shovels” play on India’s gasification. Think import terminals, storage, and last-mile logistics for LPG/LNG/chemicals—assets that monetize throughput and tank rentals rather than commodity spreads. The structural driver: rising per-capita LPG use, industrial fuel-switching to propane/butane, and coastal industrial clusters needing reliable liquid storage. The JV platform with a global major deepens balance-sheet strength, safety processes, and multi-port reach—useful as customers prefer networked capacity over single-asset vendors. Near-term levers: commissioning of new tanks, debottlenecking at existing ports, and higher utilization as petrochemical and auto-LPG demand normalizes. What to track: (1) throughput volumes (MMT) and utilization, (2) blended storage yields (₹/KL/month), (3) contract tenor/mix that tempers downcycles, and (4) working-capital discipline in distribution. Risks: regulatory changes (market-coupling in gas, OMC contracting), sudden price caps in stress months, and competitor-led pricing at specific ports. The nuance: this is infrastructure with operating leverage—EBITDA per tonne can lift meaningfully as volumes scale through the same fixed asset. If execution remains tight and port mix diversifies, Aegis compounds via steady cash flows, optionality in new products (propane-air blends, iso-containers), and a growing moat in “liquid logistics plumbing.”
