Welspun Corp wins ₹4,000 crore US pipe order
Welspun Corp Limited (NSE: WELCORP) has secured its largest-ever HFIW pipe order through its US subsidiary, Welspun Tubular LLC.
The order is worth about $412.5 million, or nearly ₹4,000 crore, and takes the company’s global order book to a record $4.7 billion, around ₹45,000 crore.
Key details
• The order is for High-Frequency Induction Welded pipes.
• It is the largest order in Welspun Tubular’s history by volume, length and value.
• The pipes will be manufactured at the upgraded Little Rock facility in the US.
• Execution is scheduled across FY28 and FY29.
• The global order book now stands at about ₹45,000 crore.
My view
The ₹4,000 crore order is important because it gives Welspun longer-term revenue visibility from its US operations and supports utilisation of the upgraded Little Rock facility.
The record ₹45,000 crore order book is also a strong base, but order size alone does not decide profitability. The key will be execution, steel costs and margins earned on the contract.
What I’m watching next
I will watch the execution schedule from FY28, margin contribution from the US business and whether Welspun continues to add large international orders.
Stance: Positive on order visibility and the US business pipeline. Execution and margins remain the main factors to track.
Disclosure: I do not have any holding or position in the stock mentioned above.
