Fortis Healthcare: Rebound Has Begun, but ₹900 Is the Test
FORTIS
closed at ₹897.20 on 22 September, up 0.4%. The stock has bounced from the recent low near ₹875, but it remains within the corrective move that began after the June high near ₹1,000.
The moving-average picture is mixed but improving. Price is above the 20-day moving average at ₹888.99, indicating that short-term momentum has turned upward. However, the 50-day moving average at ₹900.44 remains immediately overhead. This makes ₹900–₹910 the key resistance zone: a sustained close above it would show that the rebound is progressing beyond a short-covering bounce.
The 20-day average is beginning to flatten after the recent decline, while the 50-day average is still sloping lower. That combination suggests the stock is attempting to form a base, but has not yet completed a trend reversal. The recent candles around ₹880–₹890 have built a small support shelf, so holding that range matters.
On the upside, a break above ₹900 could bring ₹920 and then ₹940 into focus. Beyond that, the earlier consolidation zone around ₹960 becomes relevant. On the downside, ₹889 is the first dynamic support through the 20-day average; a close below it could retest ₹875. A break below ₹875 would weaken the base-building attempt and expose ₹860.
Fortis benefits from the structural expansion of organized hospital networks and healthcare demand. Technically, though, the immediate question is simple: the stock must convert ₹900 from resistance into support before the recovery can be treated as established.
