ONGC
ONGC's fundamentals are currently positive, mainly because higher crude prices are boosting upstream realisations. In Q1 FY27, standalone revenue increased 45.2% YoY to ₹46,460 crore, while PAT more than doubled 112% to ₹17,034 crore. Crude realisation rose about 50% to $99.45/bbl, which was the major earnings driver.
The current crude-price environment is an additional positive trigger. Brent has moved above $108/bbl amid escalating Middle East tensions, and ONGC shares have recently outperformed the broader market as higher crude prices are generally positive for upstream producers.
🟢 Key positive triggers
Higher crude prices: Directly support ONGC's oil realisations and cash flows.
Strong Q1 earnings: PAT +112% YoY and EBITDA +57.9%.
New-well gas: New-well gas contributed around ₹3,998 crore of Q1 revenue, with realisations significantly above the administered-price mechanism.
Western Offshore expansion: ONGC is investing heavily in offshore developments; production growth from these projects is expected to become increasingly important from FY27–28.
Recent large project activity: ONGC awarded L&T a ₹2,500–5,000 crore offshore development contract for Ratna-I and NLM-14 projects, aimed at increasing production from its west-coast assets.
Dividend: ₹1/share final dividend was approved at the August AGM.#FundamentalViews
