Dr. Reddys Laboratories Q4 Results: Profit Rises 22%, Beats Estimate

Net sales (including other operating income) of Dr Reddys Laboratories has increased 19.89% to Rs 8528.4 crore. Sales of Pharmaceutical Services segment has gone up 1.29% to Rs 1,167.50 crore (accounting for 13.39% of total sales). Sales of Global Generics segment has gone up 23.16% to Rs 7,536.50 crore (accounting for 86.46% of total sales). Sales of Others segment has gone down 90.70% to Rs 13.20 crore (accounting for 0.15% of total sales). Intersegment
sales came down from Rs 330.70 crore to Rs 211.20 crore.
Profit before interest, tax and other unallocable items (PBIT) has jumped 13.93% to Rs 4,726.30 crore. PBIT of Pharmaceutical Services segment rose 7.15% to Rs 251.80 crore (accounting for 5.33% of total PBIT). PBIT of Global Generics segment rose 17.86% to Rs 4,470.70 crore (accounting for 94.59% of total PBIT). PBIT of Others segment fell 96.83% to Rs 3.80 crore (accounting for 0.08% of total PBIT).
PBIT margin of Pharmaceutical Services segment rose from 20.39% to 21.57%. PBIT margin of Global Generics segment fell from 61.99% to 59.32%. PBIT margin of Others segment fell from 84.51% to 28.79%. Overall PBIT margin fell from 55.95% to 54.22%.
Operating profit margin has declined from 25.74% to 23.43%, leading to 9.10% rise in operating profit to Rs 1,997.90 crore. Raw material cost as a % of total sales (net of stock adjustments) increased from 15.03% to 20.14%. Purchase of finished goods cost fell from 16.12% to 13.23%. Employee cost decreased from 17.60% to 16.43%. Other expenses rose
