🚆 Cabinet Boosts Indian Railways with ₹24,634 Crore Expansion Plan
The Union Cabinet has approved four major multitracking and rail expansion projects worth ₹24,634 crore, marking another strong push towards modernizing and decongesting India’s railway network.
These projects will cover nearly 894 km across Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, and Chhattisgarh, improving freight and passenger capacity across critical routes. The key corridors include Wardha–Bhusawal, Gondia–Dongargarh, Vadodara–Ratlam, and Itarsi–Bhopal–Bina. Together, they are expected to enhance the movement of goods by nearly 78 million tonnes annually and significantly reduce congestion on busy routes.
The move aligns with the government’s PM Gati Shakti initiative, focusing on better logistics, multi-modal connectivity, and faster project execution.
