Global Market Setup – 21 Nov 2025
Wall Street saw a violent sell-off overnight as stronger-than-expected US jobs data reduced hopes of a December rate cut. The S&P 500 fell 1.6% and the Nasdaq dropped 2.2%, reversing sharply from intraday lows of 3.4% and 4.6%. Tech and AI stocks swung wildly—Nvidia moved from +5% after-hours to closing -3%, while Amazon flipped from +2.1% to -2.6%. Ten of the eleven S&P sectors ended lower. Bitcoin also slid below $86,000, touching a 6-month low.
The US added 1,19,000 jobs in September vs 50,000 expected, dampening rate-cut bets, while unemployment touched a 4-year high at 4.4%. The US 10-year yield softened to 4.1%.
GIFT Nifty is down 65 pts at 26,153, signaling a flat to weak start. Brent is at $63.5, and the Dollar Index has surged to 100.2, a 6-month high. Markets will watch Fed members Jefferson and Logan’s speeches.
