Global Cues: Wall Street turned lower overnight as the US government shutdown entered another week after the Senate blocked a key spending bill again. The S&P 500 slipped 0.38% and Nasdaq fell 0.67%, snapping the S&P’s 7-day winning streak. Meanwhile, Gold surged past $4,000 per ounce for the first time ever, driven by a weaker dollar, rising geopolitical tensions, and persistent macro uncertainty. US 10-year yield eased 3 bps to 4.13%, while the Dollar Index stayed soft near 98.6, reflecting investor risk aversion. Brent Crude remained stable around $65.5/bbl, providing comfort to emerging markets like India. FOMC minutes from the last meeting are due today — markets will watch for cues on rate path and inflation stance. GIFT Nifty indicates a mild negative start, trading 13 points lower at 25,211.
