Praj Industries: 200 SMA Reclaim Signals a Shift, But Fundamentals Hold the Key

After nearly 13–14 months below its 200-day SMA, Praj Industries has finally reclaimed this key level, indicating a possible shift in long-term trend. The 200 SMA is a widely tracked indicator—trading below it reflects weakness, while sustaining above it signals improving strength. The current move suggests the bearish phase may be ending, supported by base formation and early signs of higher lows. However, confirmation will depend on the stock holding above this level. On the fundamentals side, Praj remains a strong player in the ethanol and bioenergy space, aligned with India’s blending program and global green energy themes. Recent performance, however, has been mixed. While revenues have remained stable, profitability has been under pressure due to execution delays and cost issues, leading to margin compression. Despite this, the company holds a healthy order book of over ₹4,400 crore, providing future visibility. It is also expanding into areas like Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) and compressed biogas (CBG), which offer long-term growth potential. Overall, the stock is in a transitional phase—technically improving but fundamentally still stabilizing. Sustaining above the 200 SMA along with earnings recovery will be key for a stronger uptrend. For educational purposes only. Not a buy/sell recommendation.
