ANGELONE
📰 Key Developments The stock fell around ~5% when reports surfaced that the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) is considering ending weekly derivatives contracts — since derivatives are a big part of Angel One’s revenue. On the flip side, after a SEBI board meeting where no decision was taken on the weekly expiry issue, the stock rose modestly (~2%) as the overhang cleared for the moment. Angel One’s trading volumes in the options market have been quite active lately, especially on the put side, indicating some hedging/speculation around the stock. The company paid a settlement (~₹34.57 lakh) to SEBI for certain disclosure lapses. Angel One announced a final dividend of ~₹26 per share despite a weaker quarter, and that dividend announcement led to a short-term uptick in the share price. Fundamentally, the company is facing headwinds: curbs and regulatory changes in derivatives trading, slower growth in client acquisition/trading volumes, and margin pressures. ✅ What Looks Positive The business has a strong retail broking base and brand-recognition in India which gives it structural advantages. The dividend payout indicates the company is still returning value to shareholders even amid a tougher trading environment. The regulatory uncertainty, while a risk, also means that if Angel One adapts well, there could be upside if derivatives volumes pick up again.
