Avantel Limited is a defense and aerospace technology company based in Visakhapatnam, focused on satellite communication systems, radar subsystems, and wireless communication products. It primarily caters to government and defense organizations like ISRO, DRDO, BEL, HAL, and the Department of Atomic Energy.
Recently, Avantel has secured several major orders — including contracts worth around ₹43 crore from NewSpace India for transponder devices, ₹10 crore from HAL for airborne SATCOM equipment, ₹12 crore from BEL, and nearly ₹14 crore from DRDO for Software Defined Radios. The company also received close to ₹10 crore worth of orders from the Department of Atomic Energy for specialized equipment.
Avantel is expanding its manufacturing capacity with a new aerospace and defense production facility in Hyderabad to strengthen its domestic supply capability. It has also diversified into the medical technology sector through its subsidiary, Imeds Global, which is setting up a new manufacturing unit in Andhra Pradesh.
Financially, the company’s order book remains strong, offering good revenue visibility, but recent quarterly profits have declined due to higher input costs and project execution delays. Despite strong order inflows, margins have come under pressure.
Avantel’s strengths lie in its technological expertise, strong client base in the defense and space sector, and steady expansion plans. However, high valuations, dependency on government orders, and fluctuations in profit margins remain key risks that investors should monitor.
