Gold and silver prices started slightly lower on the Multi Commodity Exchange of India on Wednesday as traders remained cautious ahead of key US inflation data. Market participants are awaiting the release of the US consumer price index for February later in the day, along with the Personal Consumption Expenditures index, the Federal Reserve’s preferred measure of inflation, which is scheduled to be announced on Friday.
Silver futures on MCX for May 2026 delivery declined by Rs 1,920, or 0.7 per cent, to Rs 2,75,930 per kilogram. Gold futures for April 2026 delivery also slipped, falling Rs 463, or 0.3 per cent, to Rs 1,62,840 per 10 grams.
In global markets, gold prices recorded a slight increase. Spot gold rose 0.3 per cent to $5,208.08 per ounce as of 0243 GMT, while spot silver edged down 0.1 per cent to $88.35 per ounce.
