# Suven Pharma: Building a nucleic-acid CDMO platform Suven Pharmaceuticals, now Cohance Lifesciences Limited, is repositioning its business toward higher-value CDMO opportunities. The key focus is building an integrated nucleic-acid platform while expanding its capabilities for innovator customers. The company has identified nucleic acids as one of its strategic growth areas and is working toward an integrated offering covering development and manufacturing. This is important because CDMO customers increasingly prefer suppliers that can handle multiple stages of a drug-development programme rather than supplying only a single intermediate or API. Suven's earlier strategy was already moving up the value chain, from intermediates toward APIs and more complex molecules. Its pipeline had also expanded significantly, with increasing RFQs and Phase III opportunities. The latest strategy takes that approach further. However, the transition comes with a near-term cost. Q1 FY27 was weak, with revenue affected by shipment and order phasing, an unfavourable product mix and negative operating leverage. Management expects sequential improvement from Q2 and a return to growth during H2 FY27. **My view:** The important Suven story is not the next quarter alone. It is whether investments in complex chemistry and nucleic acids can create a larger, higher-value CDMO platform over the next few years.
