🔍 Recent Developments Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) volumes dropped Due to a cyberattack in the UK (causing a multi-week shutdown), JLR saw a steep decline in both wholesale and retail volumes for the quarter. The model phase-outs of older Jaguar vehicles and import tariffs (especially in the U.S.) have also added pressure. Q2 Financials were mixed / somewhat soft Consolidated revenue dropped year-on-year, reflecting headwinds in both the Indian and global operations. Margins eroded somewhat, affected by supply chain constraints, higher costs, and weaker volumes in some segments. Commercial Vehicles (CV) segment saw revenue decline, but some margin improvement due to better pricing, cost saving, and favorable mix. Passenger Vehicles (PV) also under pressure, though efforts at cost reduction and product mix have helped buffer the decline. Domestic market & market share gains Tata Motors has regained its position as the second largest player in India’s passenger vehicle market, overtaking some competitors thanks to strong performance in SUVs and EVs. The company is also offering discounts ahead of festive periods to stimulate demand. Demerger / Restructuring impact Investors are awaiting the record date for a planned demerger. Share price has dropped in recent trading sessions amid uncertainty related to how the demerger will affect shareholder value and holdings. Management’s outlook & forward strategy The company is cautious about short-term domestic demand. However, they expect performance to improve in H2 of the financial year driven by easing supply problems, strong festive season demand, and infrastructure spending. Tata Motors is also focusing on improving free cash flow, reducing debt, and enhancing margin discipline.
