How do crowdfunding and venture capital compare?

Crowdfunding and venture capital are two distinct methods for raising money, each with its own benefits and trade-offs. Crowdfunding allows startups to raise small amounts of money from a large number of individuals, often through platforms like Kickstarter or equity crowdfunding sites. It's great for testing market demand and retaining full control, but typically raises smaller amounts and requires significant marketing. Venture capital involves funding from professional investors in exchange for equity and often comes with mentorship, industry connections, and strategic guidance. However, it can dilute ownership and impose pressure to grow quickly. While crowdfunding suits early-stage or consumer-facing ventures, venture capital is better for high-growth companies needing substantial capital.
