BEML BAGS Rs 180 CRORE ORDER FOR VANDE BHARAT SLEEPER TRAINS

has secured an order worth about Rs 180 crore from the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) for the manufacturing and supply of Vande Bharat sleeper trainsets, thereby giving the rail equipment maker another order win in India’s expanding premium train programme. The sleeper version of Vande Bharat is being developed for longer-distance journeys, with the trains designed to combine the speed and modern features of the Vande Bharat platform with overnight travel. BEML is a public-sector engineering company under the Ministry of Defence, and it manufactures a range of products spanning defence equipment, rail and metro coaches, and heavy engineering machinery. The company has increasingly focused on expanding it's presence in the rail and metro segment, with Vande Bharat emerging as a key opportunity as Indian Railways looks to add more modern trainsets to its network.
