Eicher Motors falls 3% as September auto sales disappoint

EICHERMOT
Eicher Motors Limited (NSE: EICHERMOT) shares fell 3.22% to close at Rs 6,920 on October 1, 2026, dragged down along with the broader auto sector by weak September sales data. The Nifty Auto index fell as much as 3.3% intraday, with Bajaj Auto, M&M and Maruti Suzuki also down sharply, some by up to 9%, after September 2026 monthly sales came in soft across the industry. Rising Brent crude near 99 dollars a barrel added to the pressure on sentiment. Key numbers: Above-350cc motorcycle sales, Eicher's highest-margin segment, fell 26% year on year to 12,463 units versus 16,850 a year earlier Stock touched an intraday low of Rs 6,840, down 4.5% 52-week range: Rs 6,442 to Rs 8,230 Market cap near Rs 1,89,966 crore A one-day, sector-wide reaction to monthly sales data does not by itself change the medium-term story for Eicher, but the scale of the drop in the above-350cc segment is worth watching since that category carries the best margins and anchors the premium positioning. One weak month is not conclusive, a few more like it would matter more than today's price move suggests. On the chart, Rs 6,840 is the first support, with a break lower opening the path toward Rs 6,600, while Rs 7,100 to 7,150 is the resistance zone to reclaim. The next real trigger is whether Eicher's own commentary frames this as one-off weakness or an early trend, along with where crude heads from here.
