The market stayed under pressure throughout the day. Nifty opened weak and selling continued till the close, with Bank Nifty leading the decline. Midcaps and Smallcaps also ended lower, showing weakness across the broader market. Almost every sector closed in the red. Media, Realty, PSU Banks, Private Banks, IT and Pharma were the biggest losers, while FMCG was the only sector to end in green. More than 2,200 stocks declined against around 1,000 advances. The main reason for today's weakness was Brent crude crossing $94 after fresh Middle East tensions. The rupee also weakened further to around 96.6, adding pressure on the market. For tomorrow, the focus will remain on crude oil, Middle East developments and Q1 earnings. Nifty is now approaching the 24,000 zone, making it an important level to watch.
