Pre Market Analysis & Global Cues | 28 August, 2026
Global cues are positive this morning. US markets closed higher. Nasdaq gained around 1.5% and S&P was up 0.7%, mainly led by buying in tech stocks. At the same time, US 10Y yield has cooled to around 4.68%, which is supportive. Asian markets are mostly in green. Japan, Taiwan, China and Singapore are slightly positive, while Korea is a bit weak. Because of this, Gift Nifty is indicating around a 150-point gap-up, so the start looks strong. Crude has cooled a bit. Brent is around $88, after being near $92–94 earlier this week. That’s a positive, but still not very comfortable. The rupee is near 95.5 and continues to stay weak. One more thing to watch is bond yields in India. 10Y yield is around 6.89%, which can impact banks and rate-sensitive stocks. Also, HDFC Bank ADR was down around 3%, so Bank Nifty may not be as strong as global cues suggest. There will be good stock-specific action today. 1. Wipro is in focus after expanding its partnership with Google Cloud. 2. BEL may see interest after orders worth ₹730 Cr. 3. RailTel has a ₹38.6 Cr order, and ACME Solar after commissioning a 300 MW project. 4. Power names like Adani Power and BHEL may also stay active. On the weaker side: 1. HDFC Bank will be watched after weak ADR cues. 2. Apollo Tyres and Foseco India may see pressure due to stake sales. 3. Metal and cement stocks may remain slightly weak. In the primary market, ESDS Software IPO opens today. Event to watch: Industrial Production (YoY) data at 4 PM. Today's View: The start looks strong with positive global cues. The key will be whether Nifty can hold the gains after opening. Also watch how banking stocks behave, as they may not fully support the move. If support comes in, the market can try to move higher during the day.
