Pre Market Report & Global Cues | 13 October 2026
Global cues are mixed, but Asian markets are under heavy selling pressure today. US markets closed mixed, with Nasdaq closed in losses, while the Dow closed in gains. European markets ended higher, but that strength is not reflected across Asia. Japan's Nikkei is down 2.5%, Taiwan has fallen 2.05%, and South Korea's Kospi is down a sharp 6.20%. Selling is widespread across major Asian markets. Gift Nifty is up just 0.25%, indicating a largely flat opening for Nifty. After yesterday's decline, the market is yet to show a strong recovery signal. Brent crude is trading around $105 per barrel. Although it is down 1.3%, prices remain high enough to keep pressure on India's import bill and inflation outlook. The US 10-year yield has eased to 5.20%, but India's 10-year yield has climbed to 7.39%. It needs a closed look because higher domestic yields can weigh on equity valuations. The rupee offers one encouraging development. USD/INR has moved down to 95.78, following its strongest session in recent times yesterday. If this recovery continues, it could provide some relief on the import-cost front. However, one strong session alone is not enough to confirm a sustained trend. For today's session, the opening may be near flat, but the immediate setup remains sensitive. The sharp fall across Asian markets is a concern, while crude above $100 and rising Indian bond yields remain key headwinds. Watch how Nifty behaves around the opening range and whether buying spreads beyond a few select stocks. A flat opening by itself will not confirm a recovery.
