Bharat Forge Shares Slide After FN Herstal Defence Tie-Up

Bharat Forge

BHARATFORG
shares declined 1.26% to ₹1,956 on September 4, 2026, extending their losing streak to four consecutive sessions. The stock is now trading near a two-and-a-half-month low as investors weigh the recent correction against the company’s expanding opportunities in defence manufacturing. At ₹1,956, Bharat Forge has a market capitalisation of nearly ₹95,000 crore, keeping it among the prominent names across India’s automotive, industrial and defence manufacturing sectors. Investors will now watch whether its defence expansion and core businesses can support renewed momentum. The decline comes despite a significant development for Bharat Forge’s defence business. Kalyani Strategic Systems Ltd. (KSSL), the company’s wholly owned subsidiary, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with FN Herstal, a subsidiary of the FN Browning Group. Under the proposed partnership, the companies will explore opportunities for local manufacturing in India covering small arms, integrated weapon systems and counter-unmanned aerial system (C-UAS) solutions. The collaboration aligns with India’s broader push towards defence indigenisation and domestic production. Bharat Forge has nevertheless delivered strong returns in 2026. The stock has corrected nearly 15% from its record high of ₹2,295, reached on August 10, but remains around 33% higher on a calendar-year basis.
