Airtel and Google Partner to Build India’s First Mega AI Hub and Data Center in Visakhapatnam
New Delhi, October 14, 2025 — Bharti Airtel has announced a strategic partnership with Google to set up India’s first mega Artificial Intelligence (AI) hub and data center in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. The initiative marks a major milestone in India’s digital transformation, combining Airtel’s network strength with Google’s AI and cloud expertise.
Project Overview
Google will invest about USD 15 billion (₹1.25 lakh crore) over five years (2026–2030) to develop gigawatt-scale data center operations powered by clean energy and backed by a global subsea network.
Airtel, along with AdaniConneX, will co-develop the project’s AI infrastructure backbone, including a purpose-built data center and Cable Landing Station (CLS) hosting Google’s new international subsea cables.
Airtel will also build a high-capacity, low-latency fibre network, improving connectivity for users and businesses while enhancing India’s digital resilience and AI-readiness.
