UltraTech Strengthens Green Energy Push
India’s largest cement manufacturer, **UltraTech Cement Limited**, has announced the acquisition of a 26% equity stake in **AMPIN C&I Power Forty Four Private Limited** for up to ₹15.12 crore. The investment will support the development of a 45 MWp DC / 30 MW AC solar power project with battery storage in Odisha under a captive power structure.
This strategic move is aimed at meeting UltraTech’s growing green energy requirements, optimizing long-term power costs, and complying with regulatory norms related to captive power consumption. As cement manufacturing is highly energy-intensive, securing renewable energy at predictable costs can significantly improve operating margins over time.
Although the investment size is relatively small compared to UltraTech’s overall scale, the intent is clearly long-term. The company continues to focus on sustainability, cost efficiency, and ESG alignment. With increasing emphasis on carbon reduction and renewable adoption across industries, such initiatives strengthen UltraTech’s competitive positioning.
This step signals that large industrial players are actively transitioning toward cleaner energy while maintaining financial discipline.
