Lupin: Strengthening Its Respiratory Portfolio

LUPIN
has launched Formoflo-G MDI, a fixed-dose triple-combination inhaler for the long-term treatment and management of moderate to severe COPD in India. The product combines Glycopyrronium Bromide, Formoterol Fumarate and Fluticasone Propionate in a twice-daily metered-dose inhaler, following approval from the Drug Controller General of India (DCGI). The launch strengthens Lupin’s position in the respiratory segment, where the company ranked #2 in India based on IQVIA MAT March 2026 data. Lupin already has a broad respiratory portfolio covering inhalers, nebulisation therapies and oral medicines, making the new product an extension of an established franchise rather than a new therapeutic entry. Formoflo-G brings three established therapies into a single inhaler, potentially simplifying treatment for appropriate COPD patients. Lupin estimates that more than 55 million people in India live with COPD, highlighting the sizeable addressable patient population. For investors, the key opportunity is whether the new product can strengthen Lupin’s respiratory franchise and contribute meaningfully to the India formulations business over time. However, the financial impact will depend on patient adoption, physician prescriptions, pricing and market share, and should be assessed as commercial traction develops.
