Ola: From Ride-Hailing Pioneer to Electric Mobility Leader
Founded in December 2010 by Bhavish Aggarwal and Ankit Bhati, Ola began as a ride-hailing service in Mumbai, India. Over the years, it has evolved into a comprehensive mobility platform, encompassing ride-sharing, electric vehicles (EVs), and advanced manufacturing. This transformation underscores Ola's commitment to revolutionizing transportation in India and beyond Ola's initial venture, Ola Cabs, disrupted traditional taxi services by introducing a tech-driven platform that connected drivers and passengers through a mobile app. This innovation provided a convenient and reliable alternative to conventional cab services. By 2015, Ola had acquired TaxiForSure, further consolidating its position in the Indian market. The company expanded its services to over 100 cities, offering various ride options, including auto-rickshaws and bike taxis. In 2017, Ola ventured into international markets, launching operations in Australia, New Zealand, and the UK. However, in April 2024, Ola announced its exit from these international markets to refocus on its core operations in India
