Uno Minda Plans ₹1,415 Crore Manufacturing Expansion

Uno Minda has announced a combined investment of approximately ₹1,415 crore across four manufacturing expansion projects, aimed at increasing capacity across aluminium casting, two-wheeler alloy wheels, moulding and automotive component segments. The largest project involves a new greenfield aluminium casting facility at Hosur, Tamil Nadu, with an estimated investment of ₹510 crore. The new facility is expected to increase aluminium casting capacity at the Hosur location from around 13,000 MT to 34,000 MT at peak capacity. Production is planned in phases, with the first phase expected to begin by Q4 FY28. The company will also establish a new two-wheeler alloy wheel manufacturing facility at Kharkhoda, Haryana, with an investment of around ₹155 crore. The plant will have an annual capacity of 3.3 million units, including the relocation of 2 million units of existing capacity from Supa, Maharashtra. Phase 1 production is expected by Q4 FY28. Another ₹80 crore is planned for expanding the moulding facility operated by Uno Minda Kyoraku in Bengaluru. The expanded facility is expected to commence operations by Q1 FY28 and is intended to cater to increasing customer demand. A major part of the programme is being undertaken through Uno Minda's joint venture with Japan's Toyoda Gosei. The JV plans to establish a new plant at Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra, with an estimated investment of ₹670 crore. The facility will manufacture interior and exterior automotive parts, airbags, hoses and body-sealing systems, with operations expected by Q4 FY29. Alongside the expansion programme, the company has also received board approval for raising up to ₹600 crore through NCDs and up to ₹500 crore through commercial paper, providing additional funding flexibility for its expansion plans.
