The stock experienced a significant reversal on 28 July, closing at Rs.430.30, down 7.35% on the day. Intraday, it touched a low of Rs.444.3, signalling sustained selling pressure. This decline contrasted sharply with the Sensex’s marginal dip of 0.14% to 36,155.32, highlighting company-specific headwinds. Trading volumes surged dramatically to over 1.75 million shares, with a total traded value nearing ₹492.68 crore, marking Varun Beverages as one of the most actively traded stocks by value and volume. Technical indicators showed the stock trading below all key moving averages, reinforcing a bearish momentum. The surge in open interest by 29.16% in the derivatives segment, alongside a 20,646 contract increase, pointed to heightened speculative activity amid volatile price swings. The weighted average price skewed towards the day’s lows, indicating dominance of sellers throughout the session. Despite the beverages sector’s decline of around 2%, Varun Beverages underperformed further, reflecting institutional caution and profit-booking. Delivery volumes rose 17.42% over the five-day average, suggesting mixed investor behaviour with some offloading shares while others accumulated positions at lower levels.
