The numbers tell the scale of ambition. Adani Power plans to expand capacity to 42 GW by FY2032, backed by a ₹2 trillion investment, with 12 GW to come online by FY2030. That’s nearly doubling today’s capacity — a bold signal that coal isn’t vanishing but evolving to complement renewables.

Because even as solar power surges at midday, India still faces sharp evening demand spikes. Until energy storage becomes mainstream and affordable, coal remains the only dispatchable source capable of meeting peak requirements without blackouts.
