Avenue Supermarts opens three new stores across India

Avenue Supermarts has opened three new stores across India. The company has opened one store each in Nagpur (Maharashtra), Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar (Punjab) and Bengaluru (Karnataka). Post this, total number of stores of the company has reached 518. Earlier, the company had opened a new store at Bodakdev, Ahmedabad, Gujarat, on September 24, 2026. Impact : By positioning stores on the urban fringe, DMart captures rapidly growing suburban populations where land is cheaper. This allows them to build massive, destination-style hypermarkets with parking spaces that entice families to drive out for bulk monthly grocery shopping. View : DMart's large format physical stores rely on massive foot traffic and high "basket values" (people buying 30–50 items at once). By expanding physically, DMart locks in regional dominant presence before q-commerce dark stores can fully colonize suburban and tier-2 markets. For consumers, the deep discount of driving to a DMart store still beats paying a premium for 10-minute delivery for a full monthly grocery stock-up.
