Bharat Dynamics Ltd (BDL) stands as one of India’s most strategically positioned defence manufacturing companies.

BDL
Benefiting from the structural upcycle in the Indian defence sector and the government’s strong push toward indigenous defence production. As a key supplier of advanced missile systems to the Indian Armed Forces, BDL is poised to capitalize on rising defence budgets, increasing geopolitical tensions, and the long-term “Make in India” defence initiative. One of the strongest pillars supporting the bullish thesis for BDL is its robust order book visibility. The company’s order backlog is estimated at around ₹24,000–₹26,000 crore, nearly 6x its annual revenue, providing multi-year revenue certainty and strong earnings visibility. This massive pipeline includes contracts for surface-to-air missiles, anti-tank guided missiles, torpedoes, and countermeasure systems across all three branches of the Indian Armed Forces. Growth momentum is further supported by continuous large defence contracts from the Ministry of Defence. For instance, BDL recently secured a ₹2,095 crore contract for INVAR anti-tank guided missiles, strengthening its leadership in missile manufacturing and reinforcing its strategic importance within India’s defence ecosystem. Additionally, contracts such as the ₹2,960 crore MRSAM missile deal for the Indian Navy highlight sustained demand for its advanced weapon systems. Financially, the company has demonstrated strong growth potential. Analysts expect revenue CAGR of over 30% between FY25-FY27 and earnings CAGR approaching 40%, driven by order execution and increasing defence spending. BDL also benefits from high indigenization levels in its products, which supports operating margins and aligns with India’s self-reliance strategy in defence technology. Another emerging growth driver is defence exports. Export revenue has surged significantly in recent years as India expands defence partnerships globally, positioning BDL to tap into the rapidly growing global defence market.
