Sharda Cropchem — The Global Agrochemical Growth Engine

SHARDACROP
India may be the base. But Sharda Cropchem’s opportunity is global. Sharda Cropchem operates an asset-light agrochemical business, focused on registering, marketing and distributing crop-protection products across international markets. Its portfolio had 3,000+ active registrations across 80+ countries, giving the company a wide geographic footprint. And FY26 showed what this model can deliver. Revenue grew 22% to ₹5,268 crore. EBITDA jumped 69% to ₹1,040 crore. PAT surged 124% to ₹681 crore. Gross margin also expanded to around 35.9%, showing a significant improvement in profitability. But the story doesn't stop at one strong year. The global agrochemical cycle is gradually moving toward better inventory conditions, while farmers continue to require crop-protection solutions irrespective of short-term economic cycles. More registrations → More markets → More products → More volumes → More operating leverage. And Sharda doesn't need to build massive manufacturing capacity everywhere. Its registration-led, asset-light model allows it to enter markets, build product portfolios and scale distribution without carrying the same manufacturing intensity as traditional chemical producers. Q1 FY27 showed a more mixed picture. Revenue increased 9% YoY to about ₹1,074 crore, while EBITDA increased around 25%. PAT, however, fell 38% to ₹88 crore, largely because the previous year's profit benefited from substantially higher unrealised forex gains. That distinction matters. Core operating performance remained stronger than the headline PAT number suggests. The next leg of the story could come from higher volumes, new registrations, improved product mix and operating leverage as the global agrochemical market normalises. The risks are real — currency movements, working capital, agricultural cycles and regulatory approvals can create volatility. The company also carries elevated receivables, so cash conversion deserves monitoring.
