AUROPHARMA
Aurobindo Pharma (NSE : AUROPHARMA) manufactures active pharmaceutical ingredients and finished formulations. It exports to more than 150 countries, with around 90% of revenue from international markets. The US and Europe are its largest geographies.
What happened:
In Q1FY27, Aurobindo reported consolidated revenue of Rs 9,150 crore. API revenue was Rs 1,049 crore, up 14.6% year on year but down 13.1% sequentially. Beta-lactam revenue rose 25.7% YoY to Rs 800 crore while non-beta-lactam fell 10.6% to Rs 250 crore. The company received 10 US FDA final approvals in the quarter, including canagliflozin and pirfenidone. Aurobindo also made a US$247 million acquisition payment for Lannett and completed a US$85 million buyback.
Why it matters:
APIs contributed 11.5% of consolidated revenue, with growth concentrated in beta-lactam. The Lannett deal adds US market presence in generics. As of 30 June 2026, net cash was US$42 million and free cash flow US$98 million. Through AuroSource, Aurobindo offers CDMO services across 200+ commercialised products and 1,000+ regulatory filings. The stock has returned 49% over one year at a P/E of 25.52.
What I am watching:
Non-beta-lactam API revenue fell 10.6% YoY and 13.8% sequentially. Whether Lannett integration delivers meaningful revenue in the US is the key question over the next few quarters. AuroSource’s CDMO ambitions remain early stage; converting its filing base into commercial contracts will take time.
My stance:
Beta-lactam momentum is real and the US pipeline is active. But Lannett adds integration complexity, non-beta-lactam APIs are under pressure, and US$98 million in free cash looks thin relative to capital deployed.
I do not hold a position in Aurobindo Pharma at the time of writing. This is not investment advice.#EquityResearch#HiddenGems#FundamentalViews#WatchOutFor
