DIVISLAB
Divi’s Laboratories (NSE : DIVISLAB) manufactures generic APIs and provides custom synthesis services to global pharmaceutical innovators. Its operations span established high-volume ingredients and complex molecules produced under long-term customer arrangements.
What happened:
In Q1FY27, Divi’s reported consolidated revenue of Rs 3,080 crore, up 27.8% year on year and 8.8% sequentially. Profit after tax rose 65.5% YoY to Rs 902 crore. Custom synthesis contributed around 60% of standalone revenue; generic APIs about 40%. Divi’s supplies 12 of the world’s 20 largest pharmaceutical companies. Three capex programmes backed by long-term supply commitments are under way, with some expected to reach commercial volumes in 12 to 24 months.
Why it matters:
Europe contributed Rs 6,311 crore of FY26 revenue, the largest geography by far. North America added Rs 1,360 crore and India Rs 1,147 crore. This Europe concentration creates currency and trade-policy exposure. Divi’s invested over Rs 1,500 crore in capex in FY26; Kadinada Unit 3 has six blocks operational and two under construction. The stock trades at a P/E of 80.4.
What I am watching:
JPMorgan maintained a Buy with a target of Rs 9,100; the stock closed at Rs 9,030 on 15 October, leaving almost no gap. The three long-term supply commitments are the most important forward signal. Whether those projects reach commercial volumes on schedule will determine the earnings trajectory over the next two to three years.
My stance:
Customer quality is exceptional and Q1FY27 numbers are strong. The capex cycle is large and supply commitments reduce demand uncertainty. Valuation at 80.4x reflects much of it.
I do not hold a position in Divi’s Laboratories at the time of writing. This is not investment advice.#FundamentalViews#WatchOutFor#EquityResearch#TrendingSectors
