TATACAP
is planning to raise at least $300 million through its second overseas dollar bond issue as it looks to diversify its funding sources and strengthen its capital base. The non-banking financial company (NBFC) has appointed Standard Chartered, HSBC, and MUFG as joint lead managers for the proposed issuance, which will be offered to international investors under Regulation S. The funds raised will primarily be used for on-lending activities and supporting the company's business growth. The proposed bond sale follows Tata Capital's successful debut dollar bond issuance in 2025 and comes amid increasing interest among Indian NBFCs in tapping global debt markets. The company is leveraging favourable market conditions and growing international investor appetite for Indian financial institutions to secure long-term funding at competitive rates. Industry & Economic Impact: The planned issuance reflects a broader trend of Indian NBFCs diversifying their funding mix by accessing overseas capital markets. Raising foreign currency debt helps reduce dependence on domestic borrowing, broadens the investor base, and provides financial institutions with greater flexibility to support credit growth. From an economic perspective, successful overseas bond issuances improve capital availability for lending, supporting sectors such as housing, automobiles, MSMEs, and consumer finance. They also demonstrate growing global confidence in India's financial sector and can attract additional foreign capital into the country's debt markets, strengthening overall financial stability and supporting economic growth.
