UltraTech Cement Approves ₹5,000 Crore Fundraise Through NCDs

Research Analyst: UJVIN NEVATIA (PROPRIETOR: NEVAT INVESTMENTS) | SEBI Registration No.: INH100009628 $ULTRACEMCO's Finance Committee has approved raising up to ₹5,000 crore through the private placement of Non-Convertible Debentures (NCDs). The fundraising will be carried out in one or more tranches by issuing listed, rated, unsecured, redeemable, rupee-denominated NCDs, following the approval granted earlier by the company's Board of Directors. The proceeds will strengthen the company's financial flexibility and support its long-term funding requirements. NCDs are debt instruments that enable companies to raise capital without diluting shareholder ownership. Since they are non-convertible, they cannot be converted into equity shares. Companies typically use such borrowings to refinance existing debt, fund capital expenditure, support expansion projects, or meet general corporate requirements. For a capital-intensive business like cement manufacturing, this provides access to long-term funding while preserving equity capital. Industry & Economic Impact: The move reflects continued investment in India's infrastructure and construction ecosystem. Large-scale debt financing allows cement manufacturers to fund capacity expansion, modernization, and operational improvements, helping them meet rising demand from housing, commercial real estate, and infrastructure projects. From an economic perspective, access to the corporate bond market reduces reliance on bank financing and provides companies with diversified funding sources. Such fundraises also deepen India's debt capital markets while supporting investments in manufacturing and infrastructure, both of which are key drivers of long-term economic growth.
