Balrampur Chini gets ₹75 crore BioE3 grant

Balrampur Chini Mills Limited (

) has received a ₹75 crore government BioE3 grant for a 100 TPA PLA co-polymer R&D facility at its Kumbhi manufacturing complex in Uttar Pradesh. The facility will focus on advanced PLA grades and co-polymers and support the company's planned commercial-scale PLA manufacturing project. My view- This is an important diversification development beyond Balrampur Chini's traditional sugar and ethanol businesses. The ₹75 crore grant supports the R&D stage, while the larger opportunity is the company's planned integrated commercial PLA facility. I would watch the R&D facility's commissioning, product development, customer validation and the timeline for commercial-scale PLA production.
