Hindustan Zinc Limited is scheduled to announce its Q2 FY27 results on 19 October 2026.
Its operational update reported refined metal production of 264,000 tonnes in Q2 FY27, up 7% YoY. Refined zinc production increased 5% to 212,000 tonnes, refined lead rose 14% to 51,000 tonnes, and silver production climbed 20% to 173 tonnes. Source: company production release.
Analysts expect higher production and favourable silver and lead prices to support earnings, although rising input costs could offset some of the benefit. Source: Hindustan Zinc Q2 preview.
Why this matters
Higher production can improve sales volumes and capacity utilisation. However, profitability also depends on realised zinc and silver prices, exchange rates and the cost of producing each tonne of metal.
What to monitor
Revenue and profit growth.
Realised zinc, lead and silver prices.
Cost of production per tonne.
EBITDA margin and cash generation.
Management commentary on metal prices and costs.
My analytical view: The production figures provide a positive operational starting point for the quarter. The results will reveal whether stronger volumes and metal prices translate into higher profitability after accounting for costs.
Risk to the thesis: Falling metal prices, higher energy costs or rising production expenses could reduce the benefit of higher volumes.
