Union Bank of India reported consolidated net profit!
Union Bank of India reported consolidated net profit of ₹5,781 crore in Q2 FY27, up 30.6% from ₹4,426 crore in the corresponding quarter last year. Net interest income (NII) increased 20.2% to ₹10,765 crore, while consolidated advances grew 19.4% year-on-year to approximately ₹11.36 lakh crore. Another important factor was the decline in provisions and contingencies, which fell 49.6% to ₹702 crore. The bank also reported an improvement in asset quality, with its gross NPA ratio declining to 2.42% from 3.29% a year earlier. The results attracted investor attention, with the stock moving higher following the announcement. The results point to improving profitability supported by higher core interest income and lower overall provisions. Strong profit growth: Net profit increased more than 30%, indicating a substantial year-on-year improvement. Higher NII: Growth of 20.2% suggests continued momentum in core lending income. Improving asset quality: A lower gross NPA ratio is encouraging for a bank seeking to expand its loan book. Lower provisions: Reduced total provisions supported profitability, although provisions specifically for NPAs increased year-on-year. Investors should distinguish between sustainable operating improvements and earnings growth caused by changes in provisions.
