UltraTech’s Wires Entry Puts Pressure on cable stocks

UltraTech Cement’s entry into the wires and cables segment with its new Ultravolt brand has put pressure on established players. Shares of wires and cables companies came under pressure on Friday, September 4, after UltraTech Cement entered the segment with its new Ultravolt brand. Polycab India fell up to 6% to ₹8,250 on the NSE and was closed around ₹8,300, down nearly 5.76%. The decline came a day after UltraTech unveiled Ultravolt, nearly three months ahead of its previously indicated December 2026 rollout. The cement major has committed around ₹1,800 crore to the new business, raising concerns about intensified competition, pricing pressure and potential changes in market share across the industry. The selling pressure was not limited to Polycab.

DYCL
declined more than 10%, while Finolex Cables fell over 4% during the session. Investors are now assessing how UltraTech’s financial strength, established distribution network and early entry could affect the competitive dynamics of India’s wires and cables market. The development has also triggered concerns over possible valuation de-rating for established players as the sector prepares for a potentially more competitive phase. Polycab India Slides 6% as UltraTech Enters Wires Business

Polycab India shares fell nearly 6% after UltraTech Cement launched its Ultravolt wires and cables brand, raising concerns over competition.

POLYCAB
shares came under pressure on Friday, September 4, 2026, falling as much as 6.33% to an intraday low of ₹8,250 on the NSE. The stock was trading around ₹8,300, down 5.76%, marking a sharp reversal from the previous session’s gains and moving closer to its four-month low. The decline followed UltraTech Cement’s entry into the wires and cables segment. The company launched its new “Ultravolt” brand on Thursday, nearly three months ahead of its previously indicated December 2026 rollout timeline. UltraTech has committed around ₹1,800 crore to the new business, sparking concerns about heightened competition, pricing pressure, and potential market-share shifts within the industry. The pressure was visible across the sector. Dynamic Cables down over 10% while Finolex Cables shares also declined more than 4% during the session, reflecting broader investor concerns over the changing competitive landscape. Despite the sell-off, Polycab remains one of India's leading wires and cables manufacturers, with ongoing expansion plans in segments such as extra-high-voltage (EHV) and special-purpose cables. The key question for investors is whether UltraTech’s scale, distribution network, and financial strength can materially reshape India's fast-growing wires and cables industry. 📌 Disclaimer: This content is for information only and not investment advice. Independence Day Pick: From Independence to Infrastructure — Dynamic Cables

India’s power expansion could create long-term wealth opportunities for investors. Dynamic Cables is positioned in this growing ecosystem. BUSINESS & GROWTH Dynamic Cables manufactures LV, MV and HV power cables, conductors, control & instrumentation cables and railway signalling products. Demand is linked to grid expansion, renewable-energy evacuation, industrial capex and railway infrastructure. FUNDAMENTALS FY26 revenue rose to ₹1,198 crore from ₹1,025 crore, while PAT increased to ₹84.4 crore from ₹64.8 crore. Q1 FY27 revenue grew 33.2% YoY to ₹349 crore and PAT increased 37% to ₹25 crore. EBITDA grew 41%, with margin improving to 10.9%. The stock trades at around 22–23x earnings, with ROE near 20% and ROCE around 26%. Market capitalisation is around ₹2,000 crore. The June 2026 order book stood at approximately ₹811 crore, providing healthy revenue visibility. GROWTH DRIVERS India’s rising electricity demand, T&D spending, renewable-energy additions and grid modernisation can support long-term cable demand. Dynamic Cables is also expanding into higher-value products and international markets. KEY RISKS Raw-material price volatility, working-capital requirements, competition and order execution remain key risks. Investors should track whether revenue growth converts into sustainable margins and cash flow. TECHNICAL & INVESTMENT VIEW The short-term trend remains positive, while the long-term structure is supportive. ₹430–415 is the key support zone, while ₹473–475 is the immediate resistance. A sustained breakout above ₹475 could strengthen the setup. With a relatively small market-cap base, strong earnings growth and exposure to India’s power-infrastructure cycle, the stock offers potential for significant market-cap expansion if earnings continue compounding over the next 3–5 years.

This Dynamic Cables (Weekly) chart is interesting because it sits at a decision point, not a confirmed breakout yet.

DYCL
Structure Understanding Clear downtrend line connecting lower highs Price recently reversed sharply from ~250 zone Now approaching major trendline resistance (~400–420) Also trading above 200 EMA → long-term support regained So structurally, this is: 👉 Downtrend → Base → Attempted Reversal What’s Happening Right Now 1. Strong Pullback Rally Sharp move from bottom (250 → 380) Indicates demand return + short covering 2. Confluence Resistance Ahead Falling trendline resistance Previous supply zone around 400–420 This is where most rallies either fail or flip trend 3. Early Strength, Not Confirmation Yet Momentum is good But trend reversal = only after breakout Right now it’s still a counter-trend rally Key Scenarios Bullish Breakout Case (What You Want) Weekly close above 420 Follow-through buying Then: Trendline breaks Structure shifts → lower high → higher high Targets: 460–480 initially Then possibly 500+ Rejection Case (Very Possible) Price gets rejected from 400–420 zone Pullback towards: 340–320 (EMA support zone) This would mean: 👉 Trendline still respected 👉 More consolidation needed Trade Logic (Professional Framing) Smart Approach Wait for breakout above trendline (420) Enter on: Breakout + retest OR Strong follow-through candle Aggressive Approach Partial entry near current level Add only after breakout confirmation Risk Level Below 320 → structure weakens
