Pre Market Analysis & Global Cues | 01 September, 2026

Global cues are slightly weak this morning. Tensions between the US and Iran have increased again, and there were strikes near the Strait of Hormuz. Because of this, crude oil has moved up. Brent is around $91, and this is not good for our market. Higher crude means pressure on inflation and the rupee. US markets closed slightly lower. Dow was down 0.7% and S&P fell 0.3%. At the same time, US 10Y yield has moved up to around 4.78%, which is on the higher side. Asian markets are mixed. Taiwan is slightly positive, while Japan, Korea and Hong Kong are in red. Because of this, Gift Nifty is indicating a 50–80 point gap-up, so the start may be slightly positive but volatile. Crude will be the key again today. It has moved from high-80s to around $91 in the last few sessions. If it stays high, pressure can come on the market. The rupee is near 95.1 and still weak. Also, India 10Y yield is around 6.95%, which is important for banking stocks. One positive from the domestic side: India’s Q1 GDP came at 7.8%, better than expectations. There will be strong stock-specific action today. Because of MSCI rebalancing, Laurus Labs and Adani Energy Solutions may see inflows, while SBI Cards, Astral and Balkrishna Industries may see some selling. In terms of news: E2E Networks is in focus after a ₹1,000 Cr AI deal. NCC and Ashoka Buildcon have order wins. Transformers & Rectifiers has also secured a nuclear-related order. On the weaker side: EPL may see pressure due to stake sale. Some FMCG stocks may remain under watch due to cost concerns. Sector-wise: ONGC and Oil India may stay strong with higher crude. Aviation, paints and tyre stocks may see pressure. Event to watch: Manufacturing PMI at 10:30 AM. Today's View: The start may be slightly positive, but overall tone is cautious. Crude and bond yields will decide the direction. If crude stays high, the market may struggle to hold gains. Expect a volatile and stock-specific session.

EPL Ltd, formerly Essel Propack, is a global leader in laminated plastic tube packaging, supplying packaging solutions primarily to the oral care, beauty and cosmetics, healthcare, food and other FMCG industries. The company operates across multiple international markets and benefits from long-standing relationships with major global consumer brands. Its expertise in sustainable packaging, recyclable tubes and lightweight packaging solutions provides a structural advantage as brands increasingly shift towards environmentally responsible packaging. Financial performance improved meaningfully in FY26. Consolidated revenue reached approximately ₹4,763 crore, representing 13.05% growth over FY25, while Q4 revenue increased 17.65% year-on-year to around ₹1,301 crore. Q4 EBITDA was approximately ₹265 crore, although operating margin moderated to 19.15% from 21.62% a year earlier. Net profit for Q4 stood at about ₹103 crore, down from ₹116 crore in the corresponding quarter, showing that topline growth has not yet translated proportionately into earnings growth. The balance sheet remains reasonably comfortable with debt-to-equity of around 0.34 and ROE of 13.61%. Looking ahead, EPL can benefit from increasing consumption of packaged products, premiumization in beauty and healthcare, demand for sustainable tubes and continued growth in emerging markets. The company's global footprint and focus on recyclable and low-material packaging should support long-term competitiveness. However, investors should monitor margin pressure, currency movements, raw-material costs, global consumer demand and the company's ability to convert revenue growth into stronger profits. Overall, EPL is a fundamentally established packaging company with global scale, moderate leverage and reasonable valuation. The key opportunity is margin recovery and sustained earnings growth; without that, the stock's relatively attractive P/E alone is not enough to make the investment compelling.

Technical Analysis EPL Limited.

The stock

EPL

is experienced a major correction from its highs near 290–300 down to the 175 level. The market structure is shifting from a markdown phase to an accumulation/recovery phase. Recently the stock has managed to stop making lower lows and is now creating a higher low pattern which is a classic early sign of a trend reversal. Immediate Resistance the zone between 240 – 245 is a key hurdle. The price has faced rejection near this area twice in recent months. Major Resistance if 245 breaks the next structural resistance sits around 255 – 260. Strong Support the 210 – 215 zone acts as strong immediate support. The ultimate structural floor is established at 175 – 180. The price action indicates it is stabilizing above previous consolidation zones, moving into a short-term bullish alignment. For short-term buyers EPL Limited presents a strong momentum setup as it approaches the immediate resistance zone of 240–245 a decisive daily close above 242 with strong volume could quickly trigger an upward move toward 255 and 270. On the other hand long-term holders can comfortably maintain their positions as the stock transitions from a deep correction into a steady accumulation phase forming a structural higher-low pattern.
