Genus Power

GENUSPOWER
Genus Power forming a broad base around the ₹295–₹305 zone, followed by a prolonged sideways consolidation between roughly ₹300–₹330. The stock has repeatedly taken support near ₹300, indicating strong demand at this level, while the recent sharp move to around ₹337 suggests an attempt to break out of the consolidation range. A sustained close above ₹335–₹340 with strong volume can strengthen the breakout setup, with the next zones around ₹350 and ₹360. The ₹300 area remains the key support/base; a decisive move below it would weaken the structure. Historical price data also shows repeated trading around the ₹300–₹320 region during July–August.

⚡ Agriculture Power Reform: India’s Discom Structure Is Changing

Telangana and Maharashtra are exploring a major shift in how agricultural electricity is managed. The idea is simple: Instead of keeping agricultural consumers and their finances mixed with the broader state electricity distribution business, dedicated agriculture-focused Discoms could be created. Why does this matter? Think of a Discom like a household. If you put every expense into one account, it becomes difficult to understand where the money is actually going. Separating agricultural power finances could make it easier to track: • Agriculture power consumption • Subsidy requirements • Collection and payment flows • Distribution losses • Government support • Power procurement needs Haryana has also proposed a similar agriculture-only Discom model. If implemented effectively, the bigger objective is not simply creating another Discom. It is about making the economics of agricultural electricity more transparent and measurable. Potential beneficiaries could include companies operating across power transmission, distribution, grid equipment, metering and power infrastructure. Stocks worth researching: • NTPC

NTPC
— power generation and energy ecosystem • Power Finance Corporation (PFC) — power-sector financing • Genus Power Infrastructures — smart metering and power distribution solutions • CG Power & Industrial Solutions — electrical equipment and grid-related infrastructure • Schneider Electric Infrastructure — power distribution equipment The key question for investors is: Will this restructuring create higher capex, better collections and stronger financial discipline across the power ecosystem? That is where the real investment opportunity needs to be studied. Power-sector reforms can create opportunities beyond generators by improving distribution efficiency, metering, financing, infrastructure spending and financial transparency.

Genus Power – A Structural Growth Story in India's Smart Meter Revolution

GENUSPOWER
Genus Power is emerging as one of the strongest beneficiaries of India's power distribution reforms, driven by the nationwide rollout of smart prepaid electricity meters under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS). With the government targeting the installation of over 250 million smart meters, the company is operating in a multi-year structural growth opportunity. The company's order book has expanded significantly over the past few years, providing strong revenue visibility for the next 3–5 years. Through its SPV-led business model, Genus Power not only supplies smart meters but also benefits from recurring revenue through installation, operation, and maintenance contracts. This improves earnings visibility and enhances return ratios over time. India's DISCOMs continue to face high Aggregate Technical & Commercial (AT&C) losses. Smart meters help reduce electricity theft, improve billing efficiency, enable prepaid electricity consumption, and strengthen cash flows for utilities. Since these reforms are backed by central government funding and policy support, execution is expected to remain strong despite periodic delays. Financially, the company has maintained healthy balance sheet metrics while steadily improving profitability and operating margins. As execution of its large order pipeline accelerates, operating leverage could drive faster earnings growth over the coming years. Strong cash generation from completed projects further supports future expansion. Beyond smart metering, Genus Power also manufactures metering solutions and power infrastructure products, providing diversification while maintaining leadership in the advanced metering ecosystem. Rising digitalisation of India's electricity network and increasing investments in grid modernisation create additional long-term tailwinds.
