JSW Cement Slides Despite Profit Turnaround; Stock Hits Lowest Level Since June 24

JSWCEMENT
shares declined on 14 Aug 2026 despite reporting a sharp improvement in its Q1 FY27 performance. The stock closed at its lowest level since 24 June 2026, indicating cautious investor sentiment following the earnings announcement. On a consolidated basis, the company posted a profit of ₹160.6 crore, compared with a loss of ₹1,356.2 crore in the year-ago quarter, marking a significant turnaround in profitability. Revenue also grew 21.6% year-on-year to ₹1,896.4 crore from ₹1,559.8 crore. Despite the strong earnings recovery and healthy revenue growth, the market reaction suggests investors may be focusing on valuation, future demand trends, and sustainability of earnings momentum in the quarters ahead. 📌 Disclaimer: This content is for information only and not investment advice. Helios MF Buys Landmark Cars, Axis MF Sells ZF Commercial

Two interesting block deals on the same day with opposite directions. Helios MF bought 0.59% stake in Landmark Cars for ₹12.79 crore stock rose 5.31%. Axis MF sold 0.5% stake in ZF Commercial Vehicle for ₹138.4 crore stock still rose 3.4%. Both transactions on July 17. Landmark Cars is India's largest multi-brand luxury car dealership selling Mercedes Benz, BMW, Jeep, Volkswagen and other premium brands. Helios Capital a Singapore based institutional fund buying signals conviction in India's premium auto consumption story. As India's wealthy population grows luxury car sales are rising Landmark sits at the centre of this trend with an asset-light dealership model. ZF Commercial Vehicle makes braking and transmission control systems for trucks and buses. Axis MF selling ₹138 crore worth of shares is significant but the stock rose 3.4% despite the selling. This means strong buyers absorbed the entire Axis selling and still pushed the price higher a powerful signal of underlying demand. The same pattern we saw with JSW Cement's block deal where 11 buyers absorbed one seller's exit and the stock rallied. SIS acquired 0.97% more stake in Updater Services while East Bridge Capital hedge fund exited its entire 1.25% holding simultaneously. SIS a strategic investor already holding 4.88% buying more while a hedge fund exits is a classic promoter confidence signal the long term strategic holder increases while short term financial investor leaves. Today's contrasting block deals taught me that the quality and identity of buyers matters more than the transaction itself Helios buying

LANDMARK
signals luxury auto consumption conviction, ZF rising despite Axis selling signals strong underlying demand, and SIS adding Updater shares while a hedge fund exits signals strategic long term confidence making it essential to track who is buying and who is selling in block deals before drawing conclusions about any stock.

Shares of UltraTech Cement, Ambuja Cements, Shree Cement and other cement makers gained up to 3 percent on Wednesday after Nuvoco Vistas Corp reported stronger-than-expected June quarter earnings, lifting sentiment across the sector. Nuvoco Vistas surged as much as 17 percent to an over eight-month high of Rs 398 on the NSE after delivering a robust quarterly performance, prompting several brokerages to raise their earnings estimates. The stock has rallied about 25 percent over the past two trading sessions following the earnings announcement. The company's upbeat results and optimistic management commentary reinforced expectations of improving demand, firmer pricing and stronger profitability for the cement industry, triggering broad-based buying across cement stocks. Nuvoco's Strong Q1 Lifts Entire Cement Sector The Rub-Off Effect in Action Again

Nuvoco Vistas jumped 17% to an eight-month high after strong Q1 results gaining 25% over two sessions. The rally spread across the entire cement sector UltraTech rose 3%, Shree Cement gained 2.5%, Ambuja advanced 1.4%, ACC gained 1.8% and JSW Cement climbed 2%. One company's results lifted the whole industry. Nuvoco's strong results confirmed three things investors were hoping for across the entire cement sector better demand, improving pricing power and lower costs. When a mid-size cement company like Nuvoco beats estimates it signals the improvement is industry wide not company specific. HSBC specifically said it expects better demand, pricing and cost conditions for the sector in H2 FY27. This sectoral optimism triggered buying across all cement names simultaneously. We have seen this multiple times in our learning journey Berger Paints' strong results lifted Asian Paints, Indian Bank's perfect quarter lifted all PSU banks, Nuvoco's beat lifts UltraTech and Shree Cement. When one company in a sector beats estimates investors buy peers expecting similar results in coming weeks. Management guided 7-8% volume growth for the rest of FY27 supported by infrastructure spending, housing construction and government capex. India's cement demand is structurally tied to economic activity roads, bridges, housing and industrial construction all consume cement directly. Nuvoco's strong Q1 lifting the entire cement sector taught me that in commodity sectors like cement one strong quarterly result validates industry wide demand and pricing recovery, and that tracking volume growth guidance and pricing trends from sector bellwethers is essential for timing entry into cement stocks like

before the broader sector re rating happens.
