Kernex Microsystems: Q1 FY27 revenue jumped 9x

KERNEX
Kernex Microsystems (NSE: KERNEX) designs and executes safety-critical railway electronics and signalling projects. The company holds RDSO SIL-4 certification for Kavach Version 4.0 -- one of a handful of certified suppliers for India’s anti-collision system rollout. What happened: Q1 FY27 revenue was Rs 504 crore against Rs 56 crore in Q1 FY26, a near-10x jump. EBITDA margin was 32.3% (Rs 163 crore); net profit was Rs 110 crore versus Rs 7 crore a year earlier. Total Kavach contracts stand at Rs 5,174 crore (incl. GST); Rs 1,687 crore executed; unexecuted balance is Rs 3,487 crore. Cumulative executable revenue is projected at Rs 6,727 crore across FY27-29. AMC revenues are projected to grow from Rs 5 crore in FY27 to Rs 185 crore by FY29 as units scale. Why it matters: Indian Railways mandates Kavach on all broad-gauge routes; every new locomotive must be equipped before commissioning. The total addressable network is 81,000 route km; Railways plans to tender another 41,000 route km between FY27 and FY29. SIL-4 certification is a hard entry barrier. Despite ROCE of 47.8% and ROE of 43.5%, Kernex trades at 15.7x P/E against an industry median of 38.9x. What I am watching: Quarterly order inflows from new Railway tenders, AMC revenue from FY28, and whether non-rail segments generate meaningful revenue. My stance: The 9x revenue jump is order execution, not a demand spike -- the backlog was always there. The Rs 3,487 crore unexecuted book gives three-year visibility. The discount to peers at 15.7x, given 47%+ returns on capital, is the thesis. The risk is execution slippage on large, turnkey contracts. I do not hold a position in Kernex Microsystems at the time of writing. This is not investment advice.

Kavach 4.0 expands India’s railway safety rollout

Research Analyst: UJVIN NEVATIA (PROPRIETOR: NEVAT INVESTMENTS) | SEBI Registration No.: INH100009628 Indian Railways has commissioned KAVACH 4.0 for the first time on South Central Railway, covering 108 route kilometres between Malkajgiri and Kamareddi. The upgrade moves the system from Version 3.2 to a more advanced automatic train protection platform. What happened? KAVACH 4.0 improves train-positioning accuracy, signal information in larger yards and communication through optical fibre. It can also interface directly with existing electronic interlocking systems. Version 3.2 has already been deployed across 1,465 route kilometres on South Central Railway. Why does it matter? KAVACH is designed to help prevent Signal Passing at Danger, control train speeds and automatically apply brakes when required. The system has SIL-4 safety certification and requires equipment across tracks, stations and locomotives for deployment. My view The wider Kavach rollout also creates an opportunity for companies supplying the technology. Kaynes Technology India Limited (

KAYNES
) is developing onboard electronic units for Kavach and has progressed towards field deployment. With Kavach 4.0 planned for large-scale deployment, the pace of approvals, tenders and order execution will be important for assessing the potential contribution from its railway business. What I am watching next I would track the route kilometres awarded, tender activity, locomotive installations and the pace of KAVACH 4.0 deployment across zones. These will give a better indication of how quickly the technology moves from a successful commissioning to a larger railway infrastructure programme. No Recommendations Source: NDTV Profit Disclosure: I, my entity, associates or relatives don't have any holding, position or other material interest in the companies discussed above.

ENRIN
Siemens Energy India shares gained sharply after the company announced strong financial results for the June 2026 quarter. The stock moved higher as the company reported a significant rise in net profit and revenue compared with the previous year. The company’s order backlog also remained strong, indicating healthy business visibility. The power and energy equipment sector continues to benefit from rising demand for infrastructure and grid expansion. The positive quarterly update supported buying interest in the stock during Friday’s trading session. Disclaimer: Investments in securities are subject to market risk. Reliance Acquires Health Foods Brand “Manna” to Boost FMCG Portfolio

Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) has announced a strategic acquisition through its FMCG arm, Reliance Consumer Products Limited (RCPL). The company has acquired 100% stake in Southern Health Foods Private Limited, the owner of the popular health food brand “Manna,” for a cash consideration of ₹156.42 crore. Southern Health Foods, based in Tamil Nadu, is a well-known player in the healthy and nutritious foods segment. The brand Manna offers a wide range of products including millet-based staples, health mixes, breakfast cereals, baby foods, and multi-grain drinks. The company reported revenues of ₹109.40 crore in FY25, making it a strong regional brand with growing demand. This acquisition aligns with Reliance’s long-term strategy to expand aggressively in India’s fast-growing packaged foods and wellness segment. RCPL already owns brands like Independence, Udhaiyam, and SiL, and the addition of Manna further strengthens its presence in the nutrition-focused category. Reliance plans to leverage its extensive distribution network and supply chain capabilities to scale the Manna brand across India. The company confirmed that the deal required no regulatory approvals and is not a related-party transaction. With rising consumer preference for healthier food options, this move positions Reliance strongly in the high-growth health foods market.
