Hindustan Copper Surges Nearly 5% as Copper Hit Record High

HINDCOPPER
Hindustan Copper shares climbed nearly 5% on Tuesday, trading at Rs 533.20, as global copper prices breached a fresh record amid tightening supplies and tariff-related market dislocations. On the London Metal Exchange, copper extended its rally for a fourth consecutive session, touching an all-time high of $14,617 a tonne. Three-month futures rose 0.5% to $14,581 a tonne. The metal has advanced more than 17% so far this year, supported by structural factors including ageing mine supply and strong demand from power grids, data centres and electrification projects. Kotak Neo highlighted near-term supply risks after Chile’s August copper exports dropped to their lowest level in over a year due to mine disruptions and severe weather. The firm also pointed to expectations of US tariffs drawing metal into American inventories, tightening availability on the LME network and pressuring short positions.
